Welcome to Web Puppy. It's like puppy training for businesses on the internet. There are so many things you can do right from the very beginning that will help make your site a valuable part of the business in the long term.
A simple website and email solution.
Here is an example of a simple site with email. paulamarriott.co.uk is a site for Paula Marriott, a self employed beauty therapist. She needed a site to act as an on line brochure. It also means that she could be listed in Google's business directory.
I also ran a paid search for Paula. The search area was reduced to within 20 miles of her business ensuring that ads only showed for people searching in her county. This proved easier than leaflet dropping half the county.
The site listed the contact details and allowed people to get in touch via email. Her email account @paulamarriott.co.uk was forwarded on to her main email account.
Blogs
Excelassist.co.uk is a blog based on the Wordpress platform. The owner wanted to write a blog about MS Excel and make some money. The site contains Google ads and when these are clicked the site owner earns a commission.
Blogs are good for business sites as a way of updating news and events for customers or suppliers. The blog is easy to update and beacuse they are changed more often than regular sites, search engines will read tham more often which will help with ranking as you can update them as often as you like
